So what do we do to Celebrate Shabbat? (for Children)

The first thing we do is mark the beginning of our celebration. If adults are with you, they can use the adult prayer guide.

If you are alone you can thank Jesus that He is the light of the world. Tell Him that you are looking forward to spending time with Him. Thank Him that His love has made you a light to all your friends and family too.

Here is a prayer you can pray or just pray from your heart.

Lord Jesus. I am so happy to have this special time with you to celebrate and be thankful for everything you made on this earth. I am so happy you gave me this time to rest from my school work and chores. Thank you for dying for me and bringing the light of your love to this earth. Thank you for living in me and letting me be a light to show your love.

Thank you for my family and my friends and please bless them.

Then get some bread and some and some grape juice or any kind of juice to drink and you can say a prayer and remember what Jesus prayed at the last supper He had with His disciples.

Hold up the bread and pray;

Lord thank you for giving us bread to eat and thank you for giving us Jesus. He is the bread of life and we are thankful He gave himself to be broken for us on the cross and paid the price for our sins.

Now break the bread and eat a piece and give a piece to anyone who is with you and say Now I am going to remember that gift of love as I eat this bread.

Hold up the drink and pray.

Lord this juice reminds us that you give us grapes that grow on the vine and Jesus said He is the vine and we are the branches. We are very thankful for that. On the last night Jesus ate with His disciples Jesus held up the cup and said when you drink this remember my blood is poured out for you to wash a way your sins. Thank you Jesus we love you.

Now sing a song that reminds you how much you love God and how much he loves you.

O.K. now it is time to eat dinner and have fun.
